Axenic Culture of the Mycobiont of Xanthoma Parietina in Different Nutritive Media: Effect of Carbon Source in Spore Germination
نویسندگان
چکیده
Xanthoria parietina mycobiont was isolated and cultured under axenic conditions. The development of the fungi in aposymbiotic culture depended on the carbon source present in the nutritive medium. The highest development was obtained with 4% glucose in LBM. Nevertheless, the major yield of spore germination was in BBM medium. When the sporulation process was carried out in LBM (without contamination), the yield of germination was very low. The results suggest that high levels of glucose could inhibit or largely suppress germination.

Effects of Carbon Sources on Growth and Production of Antifungal Agents by Gymnopilus Spectabilis
Effects of different carbon sources on growth and production of antifungal agent(s) by Gymnopilus spectabilis were investigated. Different carbon sources including; Glucose, fructose, lactose, maltose, manitol and sucrose at the concentration of 10 g/l and slow releasing carbon sources including malt extract and soluble starch at the concentration of 2g/l were used. Inhibition of spore germinat...

متن کاملComparison of development of axenic cultures of five species of lichen - forming fungi
Although several new techniques for isolating and culturing lichens have been reported in recent years, there is little information available concerning the variability in development of species from different taxonomic groups. A comparison of the early stages of the germination and growth of Xanthoria parietina (Teloschistaceae), Parmelia saxatilis (Parmeliaceae), Physconia distorta and two Di...
متن کاملNitrogen and carbon isotope variability in the green-algal lichen Xanthoria parietina and their implications on mycobiont–photobiont interactions
Stable isotope patterns in lichens are known to vary largely, but effects of substrate on carbon and nitrogen stable isotope signatures of lichens were previously not investigated systematically. N and C contents and stable isotope (δ(15)N, δ(13)C) patterns have been measured in 92 lichen specimens of Xanthoria parietina from southern Bavaria growing on different substrates (bark and stone). Ph...
متن کاملCombination Effect of Piriformospora indica, Chilling and Gibberellic Acid on Seed Germination Traits of Kelussia odoratissima Mozaff.
Kelussia odoratissima Mozaff. belonging to the Apiaceae family, is well known for its medicinal and nutritional importance, endemic to Iran. Seed dormancy is a major problem present in Kelussia odoratissima leading to low germination percentage; thus, improvement of seed germination and breaking seed dormancy is important. Piriformospora indica, a root-colonizing endo...
